Why Azimuth?
OK…… First off, what is an AZIMUTH??
An AZIMUTH (pronounced AZZ-MYTH) is the bearing or direction on a compass.
It is measured in degrees (0-360) and is used to assist with navigation.
How does this relate to me and why would I name our company after a bearing on a compass? I’m so glad you asked…
Before I became fascinated with the idea of investing in real estate and financial independence, I was an Infantryman in the Army for 10 years.
One of the fundamental skills of an Infantryman is Land Navigation- The discipline of following a route through unfamiliar terrain utilizing a map and compass to get from point A to point B.
On the surface, land navigation seems like a simple test to figure out if a trainee can navigate using only a map and compass with no technology.
For me, it was much more than that and involved overcoming a great amount of fear and self doubt.

Some of my most trying times in the Army were spent on the land nav course- usually during the hours of darkness. Everything got harder when it was dark.
If you haven’t ventured into a dense southern woodland in the pitch dark where deadly spiders spin their seemingly bulletproof webs at eye level, you have not lived!
More importantly, while navigating through the dark, it is increasingly important to perform frequent compass checks to ensure you are “staying on azimuth”.
This concept did not come quickly to me on the land nav course or with life in general. It has come over the course of many failures and lots of trial and error.
It took a while for me to process this concept and relate it to my personal life, but it has had a profound positive impact since doing so.
Whether on the land nav course or working towards personal goals, you must have a sound plan prior to embarking on your journey.
In addition to a sound plan, you must make frequent stops along the way to evaluate your progress and ensure that you are still on track.
If you look around and realize you are not where you’re supposed to be, you will need to stop, evaluate the situation, and proceed forward thoughtfully.
I can think of many times on the land nav course when I was certain that I was in one place “according to my calculations”, but really, I was completely off the mark.
I had not performed the necessary checks along the way and gotten myself way off azimuth.

This same sort of approach has carried over into my personal pursuits.
I am a big dreamer and have many long-term plans that I am working towards.
To me, life is all about staying on azimuth.
I have a planned route that I am traveling; a destination and long-term goal that I am working towards.
If I’m not extremely intentional and self-aware, it is easy to veer off down the wrong path that will lead me away from my goals.
The concept of staying on azimuth, performing frequent check ins on my progress, and keeping my focus on the end state has helped tremendously in achieving my goals and opening up doors to new opportunities.
The goal of Azimuth Capital Group is to bring this same attitude to purchasing and managing high yield investment opportunities and sharing the joys of passive income and financial independence with as many people as possible.
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to learn about our company and look forward to sharing more with you in the near future!
